Your kinder sets up the yearbook
Yearbooks are arranged with the centre, not with individual families, so the whole group appears in one story. Your kinder sends you a code and a link.
You fill in one short form
Give consent, a few details about your child, what they love this year, a photo if you'd like to send one, and say whether you'd like a copy of the book. About five minutes, and that's the last thing asked of you until the book is ready.
Softheld makes every child's page
Each child's rhyme and illustration is created from the details on the form and reviewed by Softheld before anything is printed. Where your kinder chooses, the teachers look over the pages too, so every child has been considered.
Your copy
If you asked for a copy, you'll get an email link to order and pay once the books are ready. Nothing is owed before then. The finished books go to your kinder to hand out at a time that suits the centre. If you'd rather have yours posted to you, just ask and I'll send it by mail.
What I do with what you send me.
You are sending me information about a small child, and I treat it that way. Here is plainly what happens to it, and what never does.
- Photos are never given to an AI tool. If you send a reference photo, it is for my eyes only. I use it to write my own description of your child in words, and later to compare the finished page against the photo so I know the likeness is right. The photo itself is never uploaded to any AI system, never printed in the book, and never shared, and I delete it once your child's page is approved.
- The pages are made by prompting an AI tool with words only. I create each illustration and rhyme by directing an AI tool with written descriptions: the answers on the form, plus notes I write myself. Never a name, a photo, or anything that identifies your child. I check every page against what you told me and keep adjusting the wording until it is right. Nothing is printed until I have decided it is.
- Nothing is sold or used for training. Your child's photo, name and details are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train AI models, mine or anyone else's.
- Only the people who need it see it. Submissions come to me, and go to your child's educators for the review step. They are never shared with other families.
- You stay in control. You choose what to include, and you can change or withdraw your child's details at any time before printing. Just email me.
- Kept for the book year, then deleted. I hold the details only for the year the book is made, then remove them from my files. Ask me and I will confirm in writing when it is done.

Questions families ask
Can I order one if my kinder is not taking part?
Not on its own. The book is built around the whole group. Send me your centre and I will approach them, or send you something to pass on.
Where do I enter my kinder's code?
On the consent and submission form your kinder links you to. Your kinder sends the code out with the yearbook announcement, one code per centre, per year.
What do I need to send?
One short form: a few details about your child, what they love this year, and a photo if you want to send one. It takes about five minutes.
Will my child recognise themselves?
That is the aim. Children are drawn as illustrated characters rather than photographic likenesses, with the details you tell us about them.
Are photos printed in the book?
No. Photos are reference for illustration only and never appear in the finished book.
What does a copy cost?
$49 for a softcover or $59 for a hardcover. Families order their own copies directly, and you decide whether to order at all.
When does it arrive?
Before the end of the year, in time for graduation night.
